Rooted

"And I pray that, you being rooted and established in love may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."  Ephesians 3:17-19

Last weekend my team and I faithfully boarded a van to Guatemala City not knowing what was waiting for us there.  On our last day in the city we spent the entire morning in a garbage dump.  We separated into small groups and began to pray for everyone in sight. While we were praying for an elderly woman and her family a man named Luis flagged us down to come and pray at his house for him and his friend Dora.  As we got closer and closer to his house the heavier and more oppressed the air became.  We entered the house and we could just feel the darkness.  After a few minutes of trying to translate through their tears we decided we just had to start praying for them.  Immediately we dove into a battle.  Dora was so headstrong and stubborn she didn't want to let go of her addiction to alcohol or any of the lies she had been told.  While we were praying, God was giving Alaina pictures of the lies Dora was fed from a very young age.  At the same time God was telling me truths to speak into her life.  GOd was using Alaina to tear down the false walls and using me to build up walls of truth.  Everytime Dora couldn't stand on her own and couldn't fight anymore the Spirit overcame her and overflowed into her. 

This experience really taught me that through God and as His child, I have authority.  We are constantly being told lies that we are not worthy, equipped, or Christian enough to pray over other people. However, the moment we accept Christ into our hearts we become equipped.  Jesus says in John 14:12, "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I ahve been doing. He will do even greater things than these because I am going to the Father."
