the legacy of prayer

So I realize it has been quite some time since I have blogged, so ill do my best to sum up the past month. My time here in Guatemala has been such a growing experience. We truly do experience the “highest of the highest” and the “lowest of the lowest” while on the mission field. The beginning of our ministry had to do with a lot of intercessory prayer walks and door to evangelism and individual prayer. When first arriving in Puerto Barrios we soon realized that it was a spiritually dark place in which prayer was a major tool used in the ministry here. The Lord has been teaching me so much about prayer.

When my Grandma died in the beginning of this summer I knew that the world was letting go of one of the strongest prayer warriors that I have ever known. I would admire her unfailing consistency and passion when she would offer up those around her in prayer. Every time that I would talk to her she would always remind me that she prayed for me several times a day, and I knew it to be true because that was who she was. Prayer held such a significant role in her life and it affected the lives around her. Part of me wondered if I would ever become such a warrior in prayer as she was. It seemed like such an unattainable goal. It has been within the past couple of weeks that God has shown me the unfailing power of prayer and the importance it needs to hold in my life. Through this He is showing me a deeper intimacy that can be held with Him. God is really using this time to mold and teach me the legacy that my Grandma left behind.

Especially within the past couple of weeks we have been able to dive into several different types of ministry opportunities. We have been able to work at a special education school, orphanages, and visit and perform at churches and schools, and several construction projects. Along with that we have been able to do sports ministry and break dance ministry with the youth in the parks. There have been numerous lives that have been given over to Christ just in our short time of serving here! God is so good!

Though there were several bumps on the road to get to where we are now it has been a good journey in which I am learning a lot. I am exited to see how God plans to use and challenge me and my team in the days to come.

Keep those prayers coming! God knows we need them J

In love,
Tracey Jackson
